This is not an instruction book, the "instructions" for scrying are the most elegantly simple thing in the world. (Dim the lights. Look into the crystal. Practice until it works. There, did you need a book?) This is a collection of writings and anecdotes about crystal gazing, from all times and places, VERY thorough! Mr. Besterman wrote this in 1924, when he was only 20 years old. He went on to become a bibliographer at Oxford University. Most definitely not a flimflam peddling new age lightweight. There are footnotes giving all his sources, but no distracting chapter notes to make you flip back and forth, it is the smoothest, most enjoyable and entertaining read in the world, while at the same time scholarly. There are myriad things you can try, if you're into doing this. If not, the folklore and history is still fascinating.
