Neuromeningeal cryptococcosis is the bane of practitioners treating HIV patients due to its dire prognosis in sub-Saharan Africa. The use of fungal antigen testing or CrAg serum testing in the presence of neuro-meningeal signs in HIV patients is undoubtedly beneficial and should be easily accessible in rural areas for early diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Delayed diagnosis is responsible for serious complications that increase morbidity and mortality.
