The Scape Ore Swamp in southern South Carolina is said to be home to a creature known as the Lizard Man. The creature first gained wide recognition back in 1988 when it ventured from its swamp home and revealed itself to a young man changing a flat tire near the swamp. The young man described it as seven feet tall with glowing red eyes. That description gave many reason to doubt its existence. Soon other sightings were recorded and a local radio station offered a reward for its capture, which no one claimed. It soon became, like most cryptids, a money making device for the town and the local entrepreneurs. But many believed its existence to be true. This is the story of a monster whose existence is only rivaled by the human monsters around it.
