John became a notorious, successful, and compulsive street cruiser after having given up on the traditional ways of meeting men for sex in the bars, the night clubs, the adult bookstores, and the local parks. After cruising the streets and having more than one man's share of sexual adventures with many men, he eventually cruises Jose, a handsome and streetwise Mexican, in Chicago's Little Village. John's attraction to Jose and his desire to be partnered with him becomes his obsession. Over time, John lures Jose into a relationship that often doesn't feel right for either of them. Yet, it becomes a relationship that both of them need. While John knows that he needs a more stable life with one partner, Jose needs someone who offers him a solid foundation in which he can escape his criminal life involving the pimping of prostitutes and his involvement with illegal drugs. However, tensions exist between the two of them due to Jose not liking John's infamous reputation as a past street cruiser for gay sex in the area. John's reputation greatly concerns Jose, as he desperately wants to keep his own reputation as a tough, macho ladies' man among the locals. Equally, John is greatly concerned about Jose's history of being a very well-known and successful criminal on the street. Furthermore, John continually fears that Jose could be easily tempted into returning to his exciting life as a man who is sought after by beautiful women. More than that, Jose could easily be drawn back to his past street life involving crime, which includes great amounts of dirty money and drugs. Before their crumbling relationship totally dissolves, John suggests that they both come clean by detailing their sordid pasts to one another. After all, some of the gossip on the street about both of them is fabricated, and John feels it is time for both of them to tell their unexaggerated, true stories. After Jose sums up his criminal past, he becomes John's captive audience of one as he hears about John's incredible confessions of being a compulsive street cruiser for gay sex.
