Great novel with a different story and good writing

I enjoyed this fictionalized account of Paul Wittgenstein's life - excellent writing contributed to the telling of his story. As one reviewer pointed out, this takes place during a violent period of history; as if that isn't enough, Wittgenstein was a noted concert pianist who lost his arm during WWI and trained himself to play with his left hand. Very little mention is made of Paul's younger brother, Ludwig, who went on to become a noted philosopher, but then again, this book is all about Paul. There are some interesting sideplots which may or may not be true, such as a school friend's wife who ultimately made her name as Eva Braun. I am partial to descriptions of daily life back in the day, and since Vienna is the setting for most of the book, there are delightful passages about the music scene, coffee houses, artists' lives, and of course pastries. Thoroughly entertaining - would welcome more books by same author.
