Crow Like Thunder is the sequel to Sparrow in the Keep and second book in the Wilker Chronicles trilogy. The adventures, intrigues and loves of the inhabitants of a Medieval castle are constantly being changed by forces no one seems able to control. Sparrow is adapting to castle life after an upbringing in the forest communicating with animals. Her beloved Count Gustav meanwhile has two sons to deal with: the first by his wife the Countess Gertrudis, who has been banished for her misdeeds, and his other son by Sparrow. While the half-brothers are different as night and day, they are both keenly aware that only one of them can become the heir to the throne. Although to Count Gustav the succession appears to be in place, a ghost has begun to appear in the castle trying to warn them that all is not as it appears. Meanwhile, Harz is testing Trevka's mettle to see if he is fit for a promotion, and possibly also a marriage. Just when everything appears to be settled, a mysterious disappearance will mean that a long-held secret will have to become public knowledge.
