A nostalgic and worthy read.

The Autobiography of a Thief '8th of August 1963; a railway track in Buckinghamshire. The moon shines clearly over Bruce Reynolds and sixteen other men robbing a mail train of its sacks of money.'........This autobiography by Bruce Reynolds, the man that planned the heist which netted 2,631,684 pounds (about 27 million in todays money)is an honest and well written book. Reynolds insists he wants no forgiveness nor understanding. He was asked for so many years to tell this tale and he does so here beginning with his youth which involved petty crimes and time in juvenile detention. It was in these early formative years that Reynolds met Ronnie Biggs and many of the others he later recruited to help pull off his master plan. Unfortunately, despite all the planning, the members of this gang all tend to have police records and no solid alibis for when the crime took place. They are also mostly friends from way back and that makes it easy for the police because it only takes one of them to blow his cover and they can look for his friends. Needless to say, Reynolds and co. tend to spend a great deal of time on the run; that involves Cannes, Rio de Janeiro, Costa del Sol and even London while the manhunt is on in earnest. I thoroughly enjoyed this book; in fact I found it hard to put down.
