Human life is principally about the relationship. This relationship is of two kinds: vertical and horizontal relationship. Vertical relationship refers to our relationship with God, while the horizontal relationship is the one we have with our fellow human beings. The quality of our vertical relationship exercises some influence over our horizontal relationship. If our relationship with God is based on faith and sound Christian principles, the effects will be evident in our relationship with others. A careful reflection on our daily encounters often reveals the reasons behind a sudden break in communication. This leads to a chain of other things that fuel rancor, acrimony, and bitterness that are evident in some disputes on trivial matters. This distorts family peace, unity, and harmony. We manage to get along anyway but if we are sufficiently honest, we must admit that it is not always easy to be at our best in this type of tensile situation and atmosphere. In this work, we want to make use of well-known biblical stories and figures to show how conflicts often arise and how they are resolved and see the possibility of applying the same to our concrete life situation. Biblical precepts for overcoming individual conflicts have symbolic character, that is, they also illuminate the relationship between groups, tribes, races, and nations of the world. They can also illuminate the relationship within the church, for instance between conservatives and progressives, between the associations and groups of varied tendencies; between young and old, between parish priests and collaborating priests, and between the parish priests and the laity.
