The Army sent a young man from Oklahoma to Vietnam in 1965 where he began a search for his conscience, a search that took him to dark corners of small, broken countries for the next twenty-five years. He forged a hidden life in the chaos of revolutions, dictatorships and natural disasters, always listening for insight into who he must protect and who deserves to be exploited. Over the years he found deep friendships and temporary treasure while leaving a trail of fellow criminals who would have him dead if they could find him.
