It moves evidence-based criminal profiling into a full embrace of the scientific method with respect to examining and interpreting behavioral evidence. If focuses on criminal profiling as an investigative and forensic process, helping to solve crime through an honest understanding of the nature and behavior of the most violent criminals. Throughout the text, the author outlines specific principles and practice standards for Behavioral Evidence Analysis, focusing on the application of theory and method to real cases. Criminal Profiling, Third Edition, is an ideal companion for students and professionals alike, including investigators, forensic scientists, criminologists, mental health professionals, and attorneys. Very disappointing!

This textbook was a major disappointment. Instead of a deep dive into how to conduct criminal profiling, the author jumped into a 600+ pages monologue complaining and mocking other profilers, particularly the FBI. The author attempted to dismantle the legitmacy and authority of other profilers, but majority of the reasoning he provided do not even hold water. The incessant complaints made him sound like a disgruntled employee or worst, an angry ex. At times it was almost laughable how much the author couldn't stop bashing other profilers. Seemingly he was discrediting every methodology that came before him. The incessant complaints did lead me to dig into this author's background some more and I quickly found out that he lacks the proper credentials and experience to write this textbook in the first place. Creating your own business does not make you an authority in the matter. I truly can't believe that a textbook that is now in its 5th edition can be such complete nonsense.
