My thesis examines the issue of domestic violence and the potential for counselling. It begins by providing an overview of the different forms of violence. I then focus on the challenges involved in counselling perpetrators of violence. The development of violence itself is also briefly outlined. The thesis provides an insight into the legal development of victim protection. It defines the concept of violence in a domestic context and explores the question of whether violence is perpetrated solely by men. It highlights the specific characteristics of domestic violence among migrant women. The final chapter offers an insight into counselling for perpetrators of violence and the potential solutions that could be identified.
