A Useful Reference

This is a reference book, but it is readable as a history of Christianity as well. It is superbly organized and nearly universal in coverage. As a history of the cruelty and twisted logic that creeps into all religions, it is unique. The author is equally critical of all sides in disputes over doctrine.
