I've survived gladiatorial combat sports, three mob wars, and a pretty toxic co-dependent relationship with a woman who might literally have been a demon, but I think this three-foot-and-change pile of neurosis and naivete is gonna be the death of me.
My name is Big Red. I'm head of security for a casino in Tisynic, which is not a town known for its "security." I'm an orc, if that matters, which people seem to think it does, and weird-looking one who's taller than he's supposed to be and the wrong color besides, which they seem to think matters even more. Whatever. I'm good at my job. Usually.
The three-feet-and-change is a sweet little goblin kid named Keldee. She built a game for us. Pretty good one, too. Real money maker, right up until some thief figured out how to rig it and waltzed off with a payday my boss feels like she can't ignore. And by can't ignore, I mean she's gonna kill Keldee over it if we can't get it back. Turns out I've grown fond of the little menace, so I can't let that happen. Gonna hit the road with her to try and get the money back. Problem is, we don't know where it is. Other problem is, she don't know how the world works. So trusting if you told her you were doing wallet-inspections, she'd volunteer. But she's a smart kid. If I can keep her alive, she probably can find the money. It's just that so far "keeping her alive" has involved more cops, gangsters, and dragons than I'd like, and we've barely made it outside the city gates... ... when they bury me, make sure they put "sucker" in real big font on the headstone.
