Totally Enchanting!!

I love Freeform Crochet and now Myra Wood has given us a book that explores the many facets of making Freeform Crochet Lace. The best way I can explain it is to imagine Irish Crochet Lace gone wild, meandering off its pre-assigned path into the wilds of random curlicues, spirals and frills. An apt metaphor for the crochet work would be the backgrounds of the magnificent photographs: the lovely scenes of a wildflower garden. These are no simple rows of flowers, neatly pruned or trimmed. Similarly, the five different styles of Freeform Crochet Lace which are well explained and demonstrated (Funky Filet, Doodle Lace, Tossed Salad, Wild Irish Crochet and Organic Lace Scrumbling) allow the reader to wander from the garden path and begin crocheting among the wildflowers, so to speak. Once you have gained confidence with the various techniques, Ms. Wood explains how to draw templates (taken from garments you already own or following the general outlines of the templates she has sketched) on which to build your lace, thereby allowing you to recreate the fashions in the book IN YOUR OWN STYLE. There are no step-by-step patterns to follow here. You must, instead, let the yarn and your heart guide your fingers and free your mind, thus having all the fun of crocheting freeform-style while creating beautiful lace.
A fabulous and inspiring crochet book!

I was very anxious to get this book, because I have loved the style and designs of this author since I first discovered her work two years ago. The beautiful outfit on the front cover and gorgeous setting really intrigued me. After reading and going through this book, I can tell you I am not one bit disappointed. It is everything and more that I was hoping for. As an author myself, I know what readers want to see in a crochet book. Myra has it all. The beautiful color photos have a gorgeous flower garden surrounding her designs, and her explanations are very thorough in helping you to get started on your own journey to the fabulous world of freeform crochet. She talks about (and explains) 5 different styles of freeform, which are: Funky Filet, Doodle Lace, Tossed Salad, Wild Irish Crochet, and Organic Lace Scrumbling. She also shows you step by step how to make beautiful projects from these different styles. There are many wearables featured, as well as some accessories. It's hard to say which lace garment is my favorite, because they are all beautiful. The accessory I love most is the purse! Her ideas are amazing and to sum up what I have seen and read in the book, I can say it's inspiring, motivating, and beautiful. She shows you examples and gives you the tools and knowledge to get you started in creating one of a kind pieces. The money I spent on this book was well worth it!
Extraordinary Book

I am a free form fan . . .that must be said from the beginning. Therefore, I'm most picky when it comes to books and teachings of this particular art form. CREATIVE CROCHET LACE not only stimulates the eye - it is a GORGEOUS book - but it gives birth to an artisan's creative forces. And the fiber addict/artisan can be an experienced crocheter, or a total newbie. The authoress' voice is so clear . . . it's like having Myra Wood in the room, guiding you. Directions are very clear and easy to follow . . . there will be no frustration in trying to get to the creating! I've already purchased so many copies of the book as gifts . . . it is on the very top of my VERY extensive crochet and knitting book library. Don't hesitate for a second to add CREATIVE CROCHET LACE to your library . . .you'll be very very glad you did! Hooks up, People!!!! Start scrumblin!
