Less guilt, more ideas

At first glance this book might make you feel guilty about all of your family projects that haven't gotten done, but the exact opposite is true. The authors have made it easy to find and embrace a project that is perfect for the task at hand. They encourage real people with real schedules to start small, and they give us unique and motivating ideas. My personal favorites are the ideas for preserving my mother-in-law's recipes, the dictionary of family expressions, and the self-addressed postcards to document family vacations. But there are hundreds more, all presented with clever and hysterical family photos and graphics to stimulate your own creative juices. I highly recommend this book to any family who has ever been on vacation, had a birthday party, or loved a grandparent -- which is just about all of us.

It Got Me Going!

Family Originals is a wonderful book that will have you reading it once just for the fun of it, then going back to start your own lists and projects. There are so many good ideas and examples that even I stopped my procrastinating ways and swung into action to record more of our priceless family memories! It is great fun to give a copy to all of your extended family to get them going, too. The ideas really begin to flow, prompted by this well organized and creative book.

The perfect gift for new parents!

As the mother of a toddler, this book has provided me with easy and creative ideas for capturing those precious moments we don't ever want to forget. I do not have lots of "free" time to dedicate to creating scrapbooks, etc, but it is important to me that I document special events and memories for my family so we can share them with others and so that my children will have keepsakes to share with their children and so on. This book is full of suggestions, tips, and examples that make it feel simple and completely manageable. This is my brand new and unique "new baby" gift to my friends!

How wonderful to find a book which helps one wade through all the memorabilia a family has and then tells you how to preserve those memories. I particularly loved that the authors address the "fear factors" which prevent us from starting the task of organizing our "stuff." And they then proceed through examples, a myriad of illustations and pictures, and true-life stories to help us know how to best capture the highlights of lives well lived. The creative ideas provided take away the initial fear of how to begin organizing and preserving our history and open the reader up to creative ideas of one's own. The book is a true inspiration in getting started in chronicling "your story" or those of your loved ones. And the authors help you see with new eyes special events or happenings worthy of capturing for future generations. It is a perfect book to own or to give as a gift....my thanks to the authors for their inspiration.
