During the over 35 years that I have been a music educator, I have been utilizing many of the unique methods in these books. This series works wonderfully for children or beginner adults when used with the guidance of a teacher, or by adults with musical experience who would like to themselves. There Songwriting series is not meant to be a comprehensive treatise on music theory or songwriting. I have included pertinent theoretical material on what I feel is a need-to-know basis, to allow students to create songs quickly and easily with sophisticated chord progressions. I have provided much information on the basics of music, chord and song structure, scales for composing melodies, and templates to organize songs. I would of course encourage students to pursue these topics as widely as possible.
