Early Middle East

If your children want to learn about the ancient civilizations of Egypt and the Middle East, this 64-page reference is a great place to start. Equipped with an excellent index and glossary, the volume (like its series siblings) includes 14 chapters, each one generously illustrated with maps, photographs and art works depicting the areas discussed and the types of culture and art developed in ancient times. The book covers Mesopotamia (modern Iraq and its surroundings), the ancient civilization along the Nile River, the Bronze Age of Syria, the Jewish people in ancient Israel and Egypt, Egypt's New and Middle Kingdoms, the Phoenicians and Mediterranean navigators, Assyria and ancient Israel, as well as Saharan Africa of the Iron Age. This is a great text. You kids will love it.
