A GOOD book, though not quite enough.

Now I'm having a good time reviewing the GRE Math sub test under the guidance of this book. It provides me with explicit syllabus for what I need to know for this test. And what's more? It tells me to which extend I need to prepare for each section. GRE Sub test doesn't like a test we might have in college. It covers a wide variety of knoweldges but with little depth. So we must be very careful with how much effort we put into each section. If you go without this kind of guidance, this would be a big problem. What test takers need to pay attention for is that this book may not be adequate to prepare you for a high score. Other references should also be referred to for a better understanding of the concepts and theories. Plus, for going through the test skillfully, other practice works should also be taken into account. Finally an advise for non-english test takers: this is a vital book for us to get familiar with english vocabularies related to math, so don't miss it.

Before you leave a review - please note!

This is NOT a book about the quantitative section of the general GRE! It is a book for those taking the MATH SUBJECT TEST for the GRE. Leaving a bad score for this book because you are confused about this issue is not fair to the author/publisher of this book.

very helpful

Personally, I find all the books written by Steven Leduc extremely helpful. This book is not an exception. The topics are smoothly presented, and practice problems are very helpful. The candidate (for Math GRE, that is) will still need to get more practice in his/her weak areas even after reading this book. While this book is a great help, it should not be the only book used for GRE test preparation.

Excellent Preparation for the Subject GRE

I've been using this book to study for the upcoming GRE, It has been fairly helpful to bring me up to speed on several areas that are a little hazy to me. The problems are on the average a little harder than on the real thing, but that helps you prepare well for the test. There are a few typos and mistakes which I caught, but nothing compared to the number that are in the infamous REA Math Subject GRE review book, which is truly astounding in it lack of editorial detail.

Excellent preparation book

I'm going to take the GRE Subject Math in a few weeks and I've been preparing for it about one month. I've found this book to be very good at reviewing and explaining every topic. Sometimes I wish that it had more practice questions for every section. There are some typos in the book but not too many. Please do not be mistake the GRE Subject Math exam with the Quantitative section of the GRE General exam. This book will not help you for that purpose.
