The devious Coyote, out to hunt for rabbit fur to lure the children to follow him, is spotted by the clever Owl. Knowing Coyote's true motives, Owl follows him, and works against him at every turn. With Owl's presence nearby, Coyote may learn the valuable lesson to never work in the presence of an owl.

Based on Native American beliefs and lore, Coyote and Encounters with Owl brings Native American culture to the forefront of children's storytelling. About the Author

Patricia June Moore worked for the Central Consolidated School District in Northwest New Mexico for forty years as a substitute teacher and educational assistant. Coyote and Encounters with Owl was originally written for students in a Navajo history class, incorporating Native American legends into a short story writing assignment for students.
