Conceived at a roundup on a ranch in old Mexico in 1965, the Cowboy Artists of America was organized the same year in Sedona, Arizona. The association was and still is dedicated to the authentic depiction of life in the old West and as it is today. The Annual Cowboy Artists exhibition with its accompanying catalog is considered by many museums and collectors to represent the finest in Western American art. This, the thirty-third annual catalog, begins with a story and pictures of the 1998 roundup at the beautiful and historic Hearst Ranch, the Piedra Blanca Rancho of San Simeon. Each artist's work is presented in large, full-color reproductions, along with sketches and biographies. The outstanding art of the 1997 Medal winners is also displayed, large and in full color.
