This is a humorous look at the lighter side of crew shenanigans aboard submarines. The Submariner's life is mostly punctuated by duty, drills, watch-standing, schooling, fun times, the armed services' best food, extra pay for sea pay and hazardous duty. Earning his Dolphins pin (silver for enlisted or gold for officers, and worn centered above earned ribbons or medals, much the same as aviator's wings) signifies satisfactory completion of up to a year's work in order to "qualify in submarines." Times aboard can be exemplified by hours of boredom accentuated and interspersed by very tense evolutions as missions are carried out. .
