By Jonathan Brough

Be true. Stay real. And whatever happens... don't let the magic rewrite you.

Sandy Chapman has always known who he is.

Openly gay, endlessly creative, and obsessed with musical theatre, Sandy is counting down the days until school ends and his future finally begins. Helping produce the school show should be the perfect send-off, and maybe even the first step towards turning his passion into a career.

Then strange things start happening.

Scenes change without explanation. Performances feel wrong. People begin acting unlike themselves. And behind the curtain, something ancient and unsettling seems determined to turn the production into something else entirely.

As Sandy fights to protect his vision, he begins to wonder whether the magic surrounding the show is only exposing truths everyone has tried to ignore.

To save opening night, he may have to risk more than the performance.

He may have to decide whether staying true to yourself is worth upsetting the story everyone else wants to tell.

A magical, uplifting YA novel about identity, belonging, creativity and finding the courage to take centre stage.
