Cost of Freedom

This book sets out to explain the last World War in the Far East and Japan's role in it... Each Sortie Kamakazie Pilot was to become a suicide mission. It was a desperate attempt to fight the war until the bitter end. The Emperor went on Radio to sound the defeat of Japan, how the War was lost ending with the nuclear bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It goes on to explain the meaning of nuclear bombs and their devastation. There is always talk of nuclear bombs in the present day and how the world leaders try to avoid a nuclear threat. Both President Kennedy and President Reagan worked for the end of nuclear bombs and held the peace talks with the Russian Leader, Gobachev in the 1980s. After the war, Japan was transferred over to the American Government who appointed General McArthur to govern Japan immediately after the war. He was a good governor who had loyalties to the Emperor and created a Japanese Government for him under American rule. The end explains the financial problems all over the world and the depression and recession of the economy. It has brought back talk of nuclear war in a depressed global economy.
