"Even if chance could accidently organize something meaningful, it could never, in all eternity, organize the beauty and complexity of the biological world." Surely it must help to be a pilot, to create to poems that fill a personal collection so worth sharing. To soar up there closer to the maker, look down at Earth's beauty, its organization, its compelling evidence of a supreme being. Saunders is such a pilot, although here he is observer. In Cosmic Whispers he gently but persuasively speaks against evolution and atheism. He captures in verse "the inner, visual and rational evidences" that validate a Creator. And he creates his own need for these short, approachable, cognet poems to thrive. "When it is accepted that...man is the crowning glory of the universe...then the moral fabric of society begins to unravel." Saunders writes of imagination, the miracle of seasons, the molecular build of a field's simplest flower. Of Micelangelo removing marble from the art beneath it. Room for acience: Sure, for DNA, its blueprint of life, an undeviating, surviving record of life. There is a growth of sentiment as age nourishes souls of friendship. The last, simple words of a proud father. Darwin had his theory, but it would need trillions of times longer than the existence of the universe to work. Saunders, celebrates the creator.
