Cosmic Monsters

By: Setzer, Ashley

Esther Rainey is all set to return to her second year of college when the appearance of an otherworldly creature rattles the safety of her hometown. Armed with a knack for sharpshooting and the backup of her monster-hunting best friends, Lydia and Zed, she tries to uncover the secrets that threaten her childhood kingdom. All the while, she is forced to keep a powerful secret that could change Lydia's life. Meanwhile, Lydia Crow struggles to remain in the present when a figure from her past reemerges. Faced with the nightmares of her own violent childhood as a RUIN cadet, she must choose whether to move forward or keep battling the monsters who made her. Zed is just trying to enjoy his healthy new body and stay out of trouble, but dealing with Lydia and Esther's secrets leaves little room for his own. Since he's been around for a few millennia, he knows more about the strange forces working to undermine humanity than he'd ever let on to his combative roommates. His loyalty to Lydia is tested when she becomes increasingly reckless. How can he remain her faithful sidekick when her actions endanger everyone else he cares about?
