In 1984, after becoming part of an antimafia group seeking to prosecute the Sicilian mafia, the Cosa Nostra, Giovanni Falcone and his colleague Paolo Borsellino find themselves amidst a stunning turn... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is almost a classic in Italy. Written during the Mafia war, it is a very intelligent, well structured and insightful picture of Cosa Nostra, the modern name for the Mafia, possibly the most famous Italian criminal organization. The author, Giovanni Falcone, one of the judges who investigated some of the most difficult and complex Mafia crimes, and who was killed in a bomb attack, knew what he was talking about. If there was someone who could write about Mafia, it was him. This book is therefore a must read for everyone who wants to gain a better understanding of Italian recent history or who is simply curious to know what the Mafia is really about (and how it has little to do with Sopranos!). A moving masterpiece.
