He's preparing for the imminent attack of Moctezuma's brother Cuitl?uac, who disbelieves religious predictions that announce the triumphal return of the creed of the Feathered Serpent, goddess banished by Huitzilopochtli, god of the war, human sacrifice and cannibalism.

By addressing each other in florid terms, Moctezuma outlines a conciliatory and yet apocalyptic character, while Cort?s embodies the determination and cunning of the conquerors.

In a lyrical anguage, Hugo No?l Santander-Ferreira recreates the dilemmas of power: to fight against enemies that represent change or to allow fate to take its course.
