It has been five years since novelist Jeanette Turner's best friend, Caleb Polaski, was murdered. Recently, Jeanette has been plagued by a series of nightmares concerning an antique box drifting through space. At first, Jeanette regards these bizarre dreams as nothing more than mere nightmares. However, after Caleb manages to contact her from beyond the grave she learns that the peculiar box is in fact real, and that she is not the only one to have experienced these visions.
