Cordelia was different from other children. She didn't like to play with anyone her age or, it seemed, anyone material. Her typical playmates, in fact, were the kind that no one else could see. This, in and of itself, may not seem that unusual, but, at least in Cordelia's case, the reality was something far more extraordinary - and something that defied the easy explanation of "a child's imagination at work." The life of a boy named John would change irreversibly when his curiosity guided him to a great old house owned by none other than Cordelia herself; though, as he would soon discover, there were many strange occupants the likes of which he'd never before encountered.
