For those who take a Baltic Sea cruise it is most likely that your itinerary will begin or end in Copenhagen and/or Stockholm. These two great cities are essentially at opposite ends of a cruise around the Baltic Sea from east to west or in reverse with Saint Petersburg, Russia being the mid point and star of the journey. This means arriving in or departing from either Copenhagen or Stockholm. These are both very historic, beautiful and major centers of culture in the Baltic Sea region. Yet so many cruise passengers arrive just in time to begin their cruise, or perhaps simply spend one night before embarking. And when the cruise ends, the vast majority either depart that same day or at most spend one night before leaving for home. But there are a few travelers who recognize that both cities are an integral part of the total picture of the Baltic Sea. I believe I have given just the right amount of information without providing sensory overload. Maps are provided, but in a book it is hard for them to provide full detail.
