Epic poems that call back to the good old days of Coos Bay, Oregon. Step into the memories of the finest local apples, dancing with friends on the beach, and the excitement of life. Joel Mansfield was born and raised in Coos Bay, Oregon. He is a graduate of Marshfield High School and the University of Oregon. During his youth, he was a paper boy for The World, a deckhand on a salmon trawler, and a bottle boy at the Englewood Market. In his adult life, he served 10 years in the US Air Force, 10 years with Weyerhaeuser, and 11 years with the Springfield Police Department. Joel took a few creative writing classes while in college, and he has dabbled in the art form on and off ever since. He writes most of his poems in a style he calls rhyku. They are brief and have some rhyme to them. His main poetry influences are Matsuo Basho, E.E. Cummings, and Dr. Seuss.
