Meet Sidney Street—part wacko, part academic philosopher who lives among the outrageous street people of Los Angeles. He * has hung up on Jamie Lee Curtis * listens faithfully to a talk show advice... This description may be from another edition of this product.
A zany, colorful narrator, Sidney Street, describes the people and times of the Hollywood underbelly in the l970s. This book will make you laugh out loud and stay with it half the night. Yes, folks, it has a good old-fasioned plot and some highly colorful characters, including a teenage tart, a cheerleader, a waitress, a dope dealer, a bookie, and a millionare midget. This book will probably go unnoticed, but I predict it will become a minor classic.
A superb achievement!

Dave Diamond's quirky Sidney Street and his LA pals create an engaging ensemble that draw the reader in, latch on, and, in the end, don't want to let go. It's street wise, funny and just plain fun to read. Let's hope Diamond's got more great masterpieces to share. I give it a high "Suzy B. sure shot" recommendation and a hearty "encore." B.J.Pullen

What a loon! Sidney Street, gutter-punk elder sibling of Ignatius Reilly, has educated himself far beyond any possibility of gainful employment. Well, maybe the drugs contributed somewhat. This is a truly unique black commedy with mood and atmosphere deeply inbedded in L.A. circa 1970. Great light reading for fans of Elmore Leonard, Tarantino, John Toole and Raymond Chandler. I'm glad Diamond mined this one out of his crazy imagination!
Loved this book!

I am an avid novel reader and I tore through this book in a week. This book had me laughing out loud: Sidney's duck call antics, phoning the Dr. Linda show, and I will never forget the scene where he meets Ramone at the mud wrestling ring. The twist at the end where everything comes together knocked me off the couch and had me clinging to the curtains. Want a good story that keeps your interest AND keeps you laughing? This is the book to buy! I highly recommend it!
