I love these books but in this case the description says it is a 2011 book but I received a 2005. I already have that one

I actually like this better than Cook's Illustrated

I really like Cook's Country. And as I said in the title of this review, I actually like it better than Cook's Illustrated. One of the main reasons, every issue of Cook's Country has 30 minute recipes. I use them all the time. They're simple to make, quick, and delicious. And unlike Cook's Illustrated you get nice big color pictures. I much prefer that. Not only that, you also you get more recipes! The only complaint I have is, they don't use weight measurements like with Cook's Illustrated.

Simple is Better!

After reviewing Cook's Country Magazine I give it 4 stars, as a chef. It's simple and user friendly. Not everyone is a gourmet chef or wants to be. It gives the working mom, first time cooks, or anyone interested in cooking a home cooked meal, incentive to cook, instead of opening a frozen dinner or running down to your nearest fast food restaurant. Simplicity is the best thing to inspire a young or new cook. You have access to Blue Ribbon Winners in anything from cakes to chili. After you have mastered Cook's Country, you may want to venture on to Cook's Illustrated and learn the "how's" and "why's" of cooking.
