Cook Once, Eat Twice Slow Cooker Recipes (Bertter Homes and Gardens) Great book! The meals use, for the most part, easy to find ingredients. There's a good blend of familiar recipes & interesting twists. The second-day meals, while based on the first-day's slow-cooker recipe are changed just enough that it's not same-old, same-old. None of the meals we've tried have been expensive or complicated, none have been boring. Some of the second-day meals need to be served within the same week; some can be frozen and served within a few weeks. Each type of recipe is clearly stated. I've had equal success with each type. I have one of the recipes in my slow cooker as I'm typing this review. I'll add some home-baked bread to it (could just as easily be deli-bread) and it will be a complete meal... I wish you could smell it!

I keep on searching the cookbooks that give quick cooking and slow cooker with better format on timing of prep and cooking, list of specific vegetables, meats, grains, etc. So, I can go thru easily during busy days. At first, I resist the publisher-Better Homes and Gardens. I rather well-known chef. But, I gave this one a try. Surprisily, I like it a lot. This book has AWESOME index on food. What more, it gives notes on freezing. The 2nd recipes are great for giving ideas to use up on leftovers. I have tried pulled pork with cola for our son's birthday-Texas Theme. wow! Delicious! Very simple to assemble. This book has more features than common cookbooks!

This is a very good cookbook and shows how to be a little more frugal when cooking by using your crockpot to make one delicious meal and then turning the leftovers into another delicious meal. Would highly suggest this cookbook as a wedding gift, included in a crockpot. Recipes are simple without being bland and there's a section on setting up your kitchen, pantry, etc. Highly recommend this cookbook. There are lots of color photos and book is printed on nice quality paper.
