Carrot seeds can have their germination process damaged by the action of infesting fungi, which begin their attack during the formation of the seedling. The use of surface disinfestation as an alternative method to control Alternaria spp. on carrot seeds, using alcohol and chlorine-based compounds, has a low potential for environmental contamination, ensures the health of the farmer and guarantees food safety for consumers. It also provides adequate establishment of the crop's seedlings.
