The Oxford History of India describes Raja Rammohan Roy as the greatest creative personality of the nineteenth century India' the man greatness has been studied from many angles by distinguished historians and social scientist. The purpose of the present monograph is to view Raja Rammohan Roy, hereinafter referred to as Rammohan as an educationist. Being a great socio -religious reformer, Rammohan wanted to bring about complete transformation in all the spheres of social life. His educational ideas intended to inculcate the spirit of enquiry among his countrymen so that they could appreciate everything with a rational and scientific outlook. He made efforts to adopt Hinduism to the new environment and started the Brahmo samaj on social rational basis.
