The impact of Jyoti Basu's leadership on West Bengal's development cannot be overstated. His leadership style was marked by patience, pragmatism, and a deep commitment to ideological goals without being dogmatic. Even though he was a Marxist, he understood the value of coalition politics, consensus-building, and incremental change. His long tenure brought political stability to the state, which, in turn, enabled the consistent implementation of long-term development plans.
