Content Reading Cogitates Caring Strategies

This book, Content Area Reading, is strongly recommended for secondary educators, preservice teachers, even upper elementary and middle school teachers as well as cooncerned parents with struggling readers. Jacobson clearly maps out a variety of strategies to improve reading comprehension before, during and after the reading process. These strategies are transactional not just transmissional such as the ReQuest strategy or the QAR strategy. Metacognition (thinking about one's thinking) is also improved through the use of these diverse strategies. It is rare to find a book so well researched in the current and past instructional pedagogies and still so readable and easy for one to comprehend and turn theory into practice.
