All In One Place: Whole Numbers to Algebra!

All In One Place: Whole Numbers to Algebra! Contemporary's Number Power Review: Whole Numbers to AlgebraWhere do teachers go when they want to review basic math with students-everything from whole numbers to algebra? Give Contemporary's "Number Power Review: Whole Numbers to Algebra" by Bob Mitchell a try! I am a high school special education/alternative education teacher in Oregon, working with special needs youngsters."Number Power Review: Whole Numbers to Algebra" gives a clear, concise overview of basic math including algebra. The book is an excellent resource for students as a basic life skills class or as preparation for the GED and SAT tests. An invaluable resource! The pages in "Number Power Review: Whole Numbers to Algebra" are laid out clearly, very clearly in worksheet format, and are easy for the student to negotiate. Plenty and frequent opportunity is given for students to check their understanding. This is one of the strengths that sets apart "Number Power Review: Whole Numbers to Algebra" from other textbooks. Here, students don't have to suffer through pages and pages of instruction before their comprehension is tested. Students will find the book engaging, trust me. I recommend "Number Power Review: Whole Numbers to Algebra" without reservation! A great bargain for the price.-John Bain

Contemporary's Number Power Review is Very Good, Not Great

This book is easily read by students who need to brush up on their math for business or for academic tests. I have been using the book in my classes for 2 years. The only problem is that the authors have mixed the subjects in such a way that there isn't a direct flow from one topic to the next and some of my students find it difficult to keep up. They seem to forget the previous chapters and don't understand where everything connects. I reccommend this book to anyone who wants to brush up, but not to someone who isn't familiar with the topics.
