The Architectural Heritage Division of Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage organised Conservation Procedures Practical Sessions in November 2018 at INTACH, New Delhi, India. This book is a compilation of the workshop, with theoretical and practical aspects for conservation of architectural surfaces, elements and ornamentation. Four basic themes of conservation were covered in the workshop in collaboration with Art & Material Heritage Division, INTACH and guided by expert facilitators. These were: Structural Consolidation, Reconstruction, Cleaning, and Surface Consolidation & Protection. The two-day workshop served as an introduction to the materials and techniques discussed with their precautionary measures, which are documented in this book. Steps are delineated here for each of the procedures from the hands-on workshop. It is important to assess with qualified conservation professionals, the viability and appropriateness of applying a material or technique on a site or object, considering the need of the situation. The procedures recorded in the book are a useful interface for practitioners in the field of architectural and material heritage.
