Conservation and Reuse Proposals for Heritage Buildings

The book includes conservation and reuses proposals for two abandoned heritage buildings: Chrysopolitissa Church in Kyrenia, Cyprus and a traditional urban house in the Walled City of Nicosia, Cyprus. The proposals have been developed in the course Principles of Restoration and Conservation during the 2016/2017 fall and 2017/2018 spring semester. The project includes 3 main parts as documenting existing condition of the heritage building, defining the problems on the structure and developing proposals for the conservation and reuse of the heritage buildings. As the first step of the project, heritage building has been visited and observed. Then, measured drawings, photographic documentation and inventory forms have been prepared. The deterioration of historic materials has been identified and necessary intervention methods have been decided. In the end, a new use has been proposed for the heritage buildings as the part of the project.
