I almost put it away after the first chapter because it was so gruesome. That turned out to be the most barbaric of all the chapters but brutality is laced throughout the book. What the Chinese did to their American poisoners is pure evil. But I learned a lot about the Korean War from the perspective of a foot soldier. And I can tell you it's nothing like M*A*S*H. It was written in the 50s so there is no BS political correctness. The enemy are "Chinks."
