Are your everyday fears preventing you from living life to its fullest? Are they keeping you from using your God-given talents? Learn how to face your giants with God's help in Nancy Eichman's... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I like Nancy Eichman. She's friendly. She sweet. She's easy to get along with. So when I saw this book, I went around telling everyone "I know her! Isn't that awesome?!" I'd point at the picture on the back and say, "Look! She works at the library reference desk - cool, huh?" When you realize that someone you really like has written something that you're about to read, you get a little nervous. They're, obviously, going to want to know what you think. And, if you're a bad liar like me, you just pray to God that it's a good book and that you can be honest. Which I can. ^_^ The chapters are short and digestible - they're fast reads, and the glances at Biblical women at the end of each chapter are really interesting. She does a good job of relating old stories in new ways - like the story of David and all of his trials and fears. One of the marks of a good writer is to present old material in a fresh light, and I think she does this beautifully. Naturally, she reminds us of all of the good scripture that has to do with conquering fear and worry and anxiety. I was apartment hunting while reading this, and one of the two apartments that my husband and I were looking at went off the market very suddenly. I panicked and wanted to snatch the other up right away, and it was this book which made me step back and say, "This is just the worry and the panic talking. Wait until Sunday, when your friend looks at the place for you (to make sure it isn't rat-infested), like you planned." It helped me focus on saving the energy that worry consumes. It helped me concentrate on trusting God instead of myself. I think I'm going to get this for my mother for her birthday. She worries about everything, and I think she'd enjoy this. It might help her mellow.
