Practical, throrough, up-to-date, well organized

I have been a physician for many years, and am now retired. I used this book for a general reference book then and now, and found it very complete, practical and up to date. Although geared to the medical profession, knowledgeable lay persons should do well with it. I get a new edition about every two years.

Conn's Current Therapy

I was hesitant to buy this book. Now, I have no regrets. This book consists of information by each expert in their field. I'm currently an NP student and find it very valuable. thanks

A Splendid Refence Manual- Are there more stars to allot?

This book has a long life and times immemorial it has been splendid with upto date coverage on various areas. It is just not ideal but mandatory for postgraduates who always need to update their knowledge . What is unique about the book is that the authors of various chapters are from all over the world and are pioneers in their field. Each year a new author is selected to write his views on a particular disease. I have been reading this book from my undergraduate days and I hope my students will follow me . Can this book be restricted to cover only topics in Internal Medicine? Only Professor Robert E Rakel has to ponder on this aspect and if this is done, this will make the book an ideal supplementary text for Internal Medicine postgraduates. The online version is an added attractive feature of the textbook. Professor K.N.Viswanathan , AVMC, Pondicherry, India.

superb

this book always had fulfilled my expectations, its therapeutical reviews are excellent, I strongly recommend it for general practitioners and for internal medicine specialists

The Attending Physican's "Wahington Manual"

Conn and Conn's Annual Current Medical Therapeutics is to the Attending Physician what the "Washington Manual" was to back when we were Interns and Residents: The Gold Standard in portable textbooks describing the current state of the art when it comes to medical practice. Using a format called "The method of..." and then selecting a prominent team of physican authors for each standard category of medical illness, Conn and Conn enables the attending physican reader to stay up-to-date on recent developments in disease etiology, work-up, diagnosis and treatment options. Each chapter is detailed enough to provide an overview of a particular topic of disease management, and includes standard illnesses that a family-practitioner or a general internist must be thoroughly familiar with. Obstetrical illnesses are included, and so is some emergency medicine, although pediatrics is only scantily covered. The only omission, I believe, in this edition is a bibliography of Journal refernces following each topic --which should be there for the physician desiring further reading on a topic. Overall, an excellent book that serves as a basic general text of internal and family practice medicine. Inexpensive enough, and portable enough to carry around in the car between patient rounds, or to pull of the bookshelf easily and to read when you have only a half-hour, to an hour's time to spare. I am using it for our Grand Rounds CME Program at our Institution as a first source of information on topics that participating MD's need to bone-up on. L.
