Connections follows the lives of members of one family of clan Robertson (formerly clan Donnachaidh), a clan identified by some as the oldest in Scotland reaching back to the 11th. century. Starting with the earliest recorded ancestor in Newburn, Fife in 1696 the family is traced through Cupar, Fife to Edinburgh, then south to London and eventually to the United States.
