When my dad asked me to write the foreword for this book on connecting with ancestors, I eagerly said yes. This book gives hope to those grieving and dealing with loss that we can enjoy and cherish a connection with our ancestors.

Writing this now on All Saints Day 2024, about four years after my mother passed away, less than a year after we said goodbye to our beloved dog, less than a year after celebrating the life of my bonus mom's brother, I experience and understand these moments.

I feel the presence of these and other close family members who have passed away in the past year or so in unexpected ways. My mother's voice will, seemingly out of the blue, answer a perplexing question with clarity that sets me off in a better direction.

In an anxious moment, the happy companionship of my dog will comfort me. A little bloom will spring out of the Moses-in-the- bullrushes plant that came from my bonus mom's mother's plant, and I am reminded of how she cared for her son, during her lifetime and beyond.
