The attack on the Nagoya Academy of Magic should have been so simple, yet Captain Malthus couldn't pull it off. The plan fell to shambles as he switched sides to save his fellow students. Worse, he has fallen to his human half and betrayed us, and all because he couldn't stand to kill a few human trollops He couldn't even save them all, which serves him right. On top of that, his human girlfriend Kiyo dumped him over his constant lies. Human ladies are so picky Now he has to deal with his failure and a sense of guilt for his actions. He is fortunate that the Wizard Corps decided to shuttle him off to Iceland to continue his magical training. It will give him some distance, some time to think, and, Dark Lord willing, to let that guilt stew and fester into resentment. After all, he's had his taste of human romance and the pain that its loss brings. That might just connect him with his true self and bring him back to Our Father's dark embrace. There are two obstacles to that plan, though. A familiar face has the same posting to Iceland, one who has the power to bring out the better angels of his nature. If she has her way, Malthus will be on the straight and narrow. More promisingly, another face, no longer so familiar, is also lurking around in the background, ready to bring the weight of his past sins down upon him. Can Malthus keep his head and neck attached and stop the rot in his heart? Either way, it will be delightful to watch him squirm.
