Matthew J. Lawler is a Chicago native. He was raised on the Northwest Side of the city. He began writing raps in the 8th grade and soon started scrawling poems on napkins while walking home from high school. He has been published in numerous journals, including, The Miscreant, Sick Lit Magazine, People's Tribune, Caravel, Tuck Magazine, Unlost, Scarlet Leaf Review, Peeking Cat Magazine, Eunoi Review, Dissident Voice, Spillwords, Madness Muse Press and in an anthology titled "The Best Emerging Poets of Illinois," put out by Z Publishing.
