I've been cooking since I was in the 7th grade back in 1955. Was a cook in the Army and an Assist Mgr in an IHOP for a time. This book is by far, the absolute BEST cook book I have ever used, bar NONE! I have even gone so far as to give 4 or 5 away as gifts. One recent gifted book is used each and every day by the happy recipient! It SHOULD be reprinted, it's THAT good!
The absolute for every cook.

I have received a copy of this book back in 1985, when I got my first apartment. Right now it's covered with flour, eggs and lots of other ingredients. The first several pages are now torn. That is how much this book is used. Very practical and basically covers all the everyday foods as well as many fabulous entertaining goodies. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is starting out or has had enough of the overly fancy cookbooks filled with recipes never used.
This book is excellent!

I find this cookbook to be the best one for a beginner, and it's a shame it is out of print. It practically tells you how to boil water. I really like how it gives simple recipes as well as fancy recipes that I would serve for a special occaision. I would recommend this book to anyone that is starting out on their own, as I have recently.
