Since then computed tomography (CT) is rapidly emerging as a non-invasive diagnostic technique to reliably visualize the coronary arteries. CT has the potential to identify obstructive and non-obstructive coronary atherosclerosis and is able to non-invasively assess the coronary plaque burden. In addition, CT can also assess the type of plaque (calcified, non-calcified or mixed) and its anatomic distribution on the coronary tree.
